How to Bath Your Dog

How do you know when it's time to bathe your dog? You should bathe your dog whenever she's dirty or stinky
But there could be other times too.
Here are a few tips when bathing your dog.

  • Use pet shampoo
  • Place cotton balls in her ears, even if you don't plan to get her head wet
  • Place her in the tub, and pour water over her body.  NEVER pour water over your dog's   head.
  • Pour a strip of shampoo down the back, and lather.
  • Wash her body thoroughly, especially her paws.
  • Be sure to thoroughly rinse all shampoo off your dog
  • Wipe off the excess water and pat her dry.
  • In the colder months, make sure she stays warm
  • Remove the cotton balls from her ears, check for dirt and debris.
  • If she likes her bath, you can try to blow dry on a low heat.  Only do this if she is content with the whole process.  If she is scared, stop immediately.

If you don't bath your dog often, sometimes just a foot bath is good.  It will make her more comfortable and happy.

Think about how you feel when you just get out of the shower, that is the feeling she will have when she nice and clean.  Bath time should be an enjoyable time for your furry friend.
Splish, Splash.
